 That's a pity

That's a pity, I just logged in at Zeal and like the professional flair of the guidelines.

There is no indication on the site as far as I could see.

There WAS an indication on the site; not enough

All six messageboards on the main "community" page got identical messages giving a week's notice of the closure. That was all. LookSmart couldn't even be bothered cutting off the registration facility.

I noticed that, the registration was open until the last minute. I saved copies of a good number of the categories in case anybody missed grabbing theirs.

Yes I was looking around there too for some note about this and didn't see anything. It is really a big pity and a shame because a lot of editors there put a lot into their work, and they probably take a lot of pride in their areas there. Way too sad.

So, what do we offer zealots looking, apart from a few thousand submissions in backlog ? And where to speak up ?

We (I) should hurry up and get the cats ready so editors can have their approved sites to manage as well as the new submissions. It won't be that hard, just a matter of doing it. As far as I know, that's all that's needed before being open to invite new editors here.

 Welcome Here

This site might be a good resource for the misplaced Zeal editors. Anybody from Zeal is welcome here by me.

Thank you for all the welcomes.

I FURLed all of my 2315 site profiles and 100 of my favourite categories and a couple of dozen user pages. They did stay on FURL, visible to me. So I can probably send the pages by email to anyone interested.

But I'm not awfully sad; and I'm very busy with Wikipedia and Wikia (the new name for Wikicities).

all links seem to be redirected to http://zeal.looksmart.com/ with the qd for furl.

While furl is a great tool it is NO directory. Although we tried to build a mini directory right in the middle of furl:
http://www.furl.net/search?search=browse&id=sitelibrary&category=214334
we abandoned the experimant, too much is missing.
