Misspelling Words is a New Trend
Published on 09/22/05 at 02:59:03 GMT by Andy Alkaline

SearchingI was writing an article for my site tonight, and checked google on the spelling of anti-depressants. It asked me, "Do you mean antidepressants?" So apparently I have it spelled correctly, but I should omit the hyphen. I clicked the "...antidepressants?" link and noted the number of results. It was interesting -- to me anyway -- to see that there was 5,310,000 occurences of it being spelled incorrectly, but 4,270,000 occurences of it being spelled correctly. By incorrectly, I mean without the hyphen.

If you search for "anti-depressants" you have to put quotes around, otherwise Google may find also pages where the words anti and depressants occur just somewhere. So:

http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&c2coff=1&q=%22anti-depressants%22&btnG=Search
Results 1 - 100 of about 1,780,000 for "anti-depressants".

Someone wrote "Misspellings are the Internet Marketeer's Best Friend" - or something to that effect... morgage.

Thanks, Norbort, for the reminder. I usually do that, but didn't think of it on that occasion since I was just checking a speling.

Perhaps I should have used Google to check the spelling of your name, and the word 'spelling' also.
