CultureSource: Southern Quilting

A very good coverage with the history of quilting and quilts in the Southern area of United States of America. Beautiful photographs of some really amazing quilts made according to African American and European American cultural traditions. Includes biographies of several Southern quilters, discussion of the meanings and symbolism of the quilt, and quilts in literature.

Well worth looking at for those who appreciate handicrafts.

Following a link from the credits there, I got to this page which shows more enlarged photos of different African American Quilts, along with their makers. Some fascinating faces there.

From http://iml.umkc.edu/art/faculty/wahlman/Index.htm

There are some other cultural crafts there too.
