Source: Gmail is too creepy Discusses concerns with privacy issues regarding use of Google's free beta email service, Gmail. Also delves into ad word irrelevancy. Offers a copy/paste sticker to use for denying access to those using Gmail email service: "Dear Gmail user: Due to privacy considerations, we cannot respond unless you resend your email from a different account. For more information, please visit www.gmail-is-too-creepy.com" In my opinion, Gmail is great and of no concern when used only for collecting information, as I intend to do with mine. I don't intend to use it as my main personal email depository. I've initially targeted mine for RSS/XML/Semantic Web type of incoming information and am looking forward to seeing what types of relevant ads that topic might attract. I like to download most of my email for later perusal, which is not possible with a web mail service. Hopefully I'll be able to remember to log in now and then in order to keep my Gmail account active. Seems like a person is not in these days if they don't have Gmail! |
