"For these reasons, I was particularly intrigued to learn that babelfish.com 1 promises to "Translate Anything" written in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, or Portuguese. Even though Japanese isn't an option, I could certainly settle for German, but I first wanted some proof that the system actually worked."

 FAHQT

The buzzword was FAHQT (Fully Automated High Quality Translation) and it was soon understood that this will not be so easy. As soon as the seventies of the last century. Clearly the words quoted above have been written by someone who knows how to write commercial copy. And who will believe that ? You'll read it for their poetic qualities, not because you believe them.

But then BabelFish.com ?

Here is my review dated 20010729

I can only hope that Andrew Odewahn's book "Oracle Web Applications: PL/SQL Developer's Introduction" is better researched than this article.

Norbert is too hard.
I checked the reviews on Amazon, 8 out of 9 are positive. The first one is titled: "Great intro for Oracle Developers, but dated, July 31, 2001 ..."

Just because someone sometimes wrote something about doesn't mean you have to make it the basis of your world view. FAHQT was last century, maybe we are better now. (I agree, we are not, but this is what Odewahn shows).
