"Hosting a public Web forum or Usenet server does not give companies permission or the moral right to advertise on it. And soliciting comments from the public on a weblog entry or other Web page does not mean that companies or individuals are invited to use it for their advertising purposes."

November 10, 2003 8:01 AM Adam Kalsey noted within the
comments that someone ping-spammed this entry with
commercial posts advertising Kalseys's services.
" [...] I'm wondering if their intention was malicious
or was intended as a satire. If it was a satire, it
would be great if whoever did it would let me know.
It was a clever idea and I'd love to chat with you
about your thoughts on the matter."

What happens if a competitor "spams" on your behalf?
You would get the backlash, not them.

"... Incidentally, I'm pretty sure that "Peter" is the spammer who is the subject of http://kalsey.com/2003/11/spam_talk/ .
If not it's a rather large coincidence that he's using the same ISP as our friend."
