Andy and Jos, Many thanks, and Happy New Year! ... Andy -- enjoyed your link! I'll continue using this thread as a junior-webmasters log of lessons learned... and questions raised, OK? Thanks for all the valuable input... many things I sure wish I had known just a few weeks ago! I'll have to go clean up trails of breadcrumbs all over the web... using http://WWW.audiowavesplus.com/ not just audiowavesplus.com -- from now on... had no idea that the spiders and search engines would consider www.xyz.tld to be different than xyz.tld when they both have the same IP address! I gotta say, of all the places for help, this community is about THE friendliest and most genuinely helpful one. I just discovered that SOME of my furl.net TOPICS (now collecting over 2,500 links and growing daily by about a dozen or two) http://furl.net/members/geofan49 have a Google pagerank! I will resist the urge to do some research on that -- to see which furlers' topics have highest pagerank -- until I have more time! lol For now, I'll just say that I will be more careful what I furl... My furl is better than yours! haha Did you know that Furl user mgiles is the founder of furl? FURL is great, I'd gladly pay a fee of over $20 a year for it -- if I could! Search Engine Listings ... Courtesy of http://www.iwebtool.com/rank :: audiowavesplus.com :: Google: 2 .. MSN Search: 14 .. Yahoo: 1 :: www.audiowavesplus.com :: Google: 1 .. MSN Search: 4 .. Yahoo: 1 The question I have now is: Why does Google not find my LINKS page, there is an ordinary HTML <a> LINK from my home page, which Google found on Christmas eve... but not yet has any search engine stored a cache of my LINKS page... any comments or helpful hints on that? http://WWW.audiowavesplus.com/audiowavespluscom_links_page.html I'm thinking that GoogleBot and Yahoo's slurp are too timid to go there... lol C'mon, bots, the website is over 10 days old now, ok? Should I just wait and hope, while I am trying to get good quality linkbacks? -- BTW, at this time: Who's On 1 Member(s) 0 Guest(s) 1 Robot(s): Lycos Woo hoo!

GeoFan you are ambitious with Google Maybe it will pick up that inside page soon now that we have all put a hit on the cache for it, ya think?

Jos, thanks. but I'm not sure how to interpret your remark... So, are you saying, if some users hit a page following Google's cached page link, that can help GoogleBot follow links from that page? ... Meanwhile ... http://www.iwebtool.com/pagerank_prediction Now predicts pagerank will be 3. Sweet!!! But, Google still does not have a cache of the links page yet... AudioWavesPlus LINKS page :: http://audiowavesplus.com/audiowavespluscom_links_page.html http://www.tinyurl.com/7hfg6 ... DogPile.com shows 57 hits now... Web Search Results for "audiowavesplus" http://www.tinyurl.com/celpr --- Big News! --- Made it into Alexa.com :: one week after initial submission. http://tinyurl.com/cph67 http://www.alexa.com/data/details/related_links?q=&url=http://www.audiowavesplus.com/ ---

I'm not sure. Just a theory I have that the search engine bots pick up on activity coming in to their site, requests for cache, page rank readings on the google toolbar, etc. You just never know... they keep everything so secret how they operate. Glad to hear things are looking up for you.

Fifteen days after the website went live... results so far: http://www.iwebtool.com reports... Search Engine Listings www.audiowavesplus.com :: Google: 1 :: MSN Search: 5 :: Yahoo: 1 audiowavesplus.com :: Google: 2 :: MSN Search: 118 :: Yahoo: 1 The PageRank shown (below) is a prediction and is retrieved directly from Google. http://www.audiowavesplus.com/ (3) audiowavesplus.com (3) Alexa Ranking for http://www.audiowavesplus.com is: 625,490 Alexa Ranking for audiowavesplus.com is: 625,490 http://www.dogpile.com Web Search Results for "audiowavesplus" All Search Engines ... 62 results www.audiowavesplus.com/ Found on Google, MSN Search, Yahoo! Search I've seeded our home-page URL link in relevant places that have a good pagerank (3) or more :: :: free ads listed on CraigsList.org, and others. :: half a dozen subject-related directories. :: half a dozen subject-related forums. :: mutual links in a few subject-related business websites. But, still nothing in Google except for our main page... Why? I want to see our links page cached in Google. Is GoogleBot so timid it won't go there? We've got a tiny sitemap on the bottom of each webpage... http://www.audiowavesplus.com/audiowavespluscom_links_page.html All the above done at zero cost, so far... low-budget, small-busines! Jos wrote ... use mod_rewrite (maybe not with sitecreator), make an .htaccess file that redirects all hits that do not include the www to redirect permanent to the "correct" URL, including the www
Can't do it with siteKreator.com ... SiteKreator.com plans to allow uploading Google Sitemaps within a few months... Any other suggestions to improve our Google pagerank in the next week, before the PR update? How can we get our LINKS page into Google?

GeoFan49, good chance your signature with the link to that page will be cause for Google to pick up your links page URL. I finally updated the HTML pages, so your site is showing up now in the Parts and Accessories category just fine.

Thanks, Jos! Jos wrote ... chance your signature with the link to that page will be cause for Google to pick up your links page URL...
That would be kewl! Pondering this ... Which link is more valuable?
- A. Link from a site with pagerank = 5, but not subject-relevant... or,
- B. Link from a site with pagerank = 3, but RELEVANT to some mutual keywords...

Not sure, but I would go with option B. Search engines often actually will penalize for links in from other sites that do not seem related to the content. It's a sign of link trading and link buying, which is frowned on by the Search Engine companies. Besides, if you want people who are interested in the things you have on your site to find your site, obviously option B would be the better choice, no matter what the PR.

Interesting result! Google now has 2 pages cached from www.AudioWavesPlus.com ... sixteen days after the website went live. http://www.google.com/search?q=site:www.audiowavesplus.com&hl=en&lr=&filter=0 site:www.audiowavesplus.com #1 :: AudioWavesPlus :: Main Page Audio Waves, AudioWavesPlus, Custom Installations, Mobile Video, LCD Monitors, Car Audio, Car stereo, CD Decks, CD changers, woofers, subwoofers, ... www.audiowavesplus.com/ - 58k - Cached - Similar pages #2 :: AudioWavesPlus :: iPod2Car Audio Waves, AudioWavesPlus, Custom Installations, Mobile Video, LCD Monitors, Car Audio, Car stereo, CD Decks, CD changers, woofers, subwoofers, ... http://www.audiowavesplus.com/ipod_ to_car_integration_by_audio_waves.html - 49k - Cached - Similar pages The most interesting thing about this result is that iPod page is linked ONLY via a few internal HTML links MOSTLY via IMG tags... it is not on the site menu (mini-sitemap at the bottom of the home page.) And, it's not linked from any other websites! I am guessing that Google is VERY HUNGRY for iPod related CONTENT pages!? The Google verification file was created two days ago. Google reports it is VALID... but, NO stats, yet... No sitemap file yet... siteKreator limitation... They can't host a google xml sitemap yet... - Geo

Re: Announcing new website AudioWavesPlus.com Posted on 01/09/06 at 21:15:12 GMT |
www.sitename.com -- vs -- //sitename.com I've thoroughly cleaned up all my internal links to use only the www. version, including all HTML snippets and all HTML links, using Link Valet: http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/valet/ via my links page: http://www.audiowavesplus.com/links.html Using that result, did a "find" via the browser to search for all occurrences of "//audiowavesplus" -- all gone now! Meanwhile... I've got a few precious cached pages of my www.sitename.com/ version in Google, Yahoo, and MSN now, two weeks after the site went live... Time will tell, I've published a dozen pages at http://www.audiowavesplus.com/ -- fully linked, with a few dozen external websites mutually linked in too -- but only two pages are Google-worthy so far... Wondering if a Google .xml sitemap could hasten things along to get more pages from www.audiowaves.com linked into Google? Sadly, SiteKreator has nice templates and features, but won't be able to support xml sitemaps for a few months to come.

I have to agree with Jos. Not necessarily because she's right, but because she has a semi-automatic weapon pointed at my head, saying, "agree with me!"
