favico.ico issues between directories Posted on 10/25/05 at 13:59:58 GMT |
Is there a way I can stop the favico in my / directory from showing up if someone is at /meet-the-press/ I put a separate favico.ico file in the root of /meet-the-press/ but still the one from / shows up. Wasn't sure if that would work or not. I'm sure if I was working with actual subdomains it wouldn't be a problem

There are a couple of different ways of putting in the head section of the html document which favicon you want to be used. But in my experience it doesn't work consistently, or not with IE. But IE only shows the favicon when it feels like it anyways.

That was an excellent clue, thanks, Jos. Gave me some good keywords to try in google, found this as the first result. http://www.chami.com/tips/internet/110599I.html

Awesome. While you're there at the Chami site, you should check out their HTML Kit program if you haven't already. It's very excellent. I've been using it for years. It's freeware too.

Freeware? What's that? Something that will run under Linux? Download HTML Kit This setup includes the base HTML-Kit application for Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4, 2000, XP and 2003. 400+ additions and custom updates are available on the Plugins Page.

Hmm I'm surprised they don't have something for Linux. The developers there are familiar with the need for it. Interesting.
