Bookmarklet Request Posted on 02/19/04 at 07:41:22 GMT
Could it be possible to have a bookmarklet to check the RSS of a site just like it is with the bookmarklet for checking valid HTML? Here is the link to check the RSS for this site:
(This is the whole thing for the button link): <!-- < a href="http :// www. feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http :// www. sitelibrary.net/portal/webapp.xml"><img src="valid-rss.png" alt="[Valid RSS]" title="Validate my RSS feed" width="88" height="31" /> < /a > -->
Here is the code for the check HTML bookmarklet:
<!-- j a v a s c r i p t:void(location='http :// validator.w3.org/check?uri='+location) -->
(Remove HTML comment tag and close up spaces as necessary)
I thought maybe if we could provide something like that here, then it might start catching on for people to validate their RSS so that it would be easier to use it. Plus we could use the bookmarklet ourselves to find good XML resources?

Somewhere on the net there is a function form to URL, but I can't remember where, so I will try this:
<!-- j a v a s c r i p t:void(location='http: // www. feedvalidator.org /check.cgi? url='+location) -->

Hi Jotfish : )
That looks like it would work, but there still must be something more to do to it, that is, if it is possible to capture the location of the XML page you are on.
I put what we are working on so far HERE (near the bottom) for a test. We can copy it into the Wiki SandBox to make it easy to mess around with.
