Banners Posted on 09/13/05 at 10:20:30 GMT |
We boast having a banner rotation system for members but we don't anymore (not that I can find any page with them on it anymore). Yeah we still have that page for the banner's but it is really just a linkpage for members then isn't it?

You can't see the banners? I mean at the top, under the menu bar? That's the banner rotation system.

Using FireFox there it buttkiss there anymore. There was but there isn't anymore. And no I haven't blocked out the ads, if I had it would just be a large banner shaped red block. But that isn't there either.

Not sure how long it's been since they worked for you, but it could be that they got turned off in your profile. Sometimes that might happen if your user preferences file gets overwritten somehow. Did it start today? Or if it's been that way since we moved, that would explain it. All our data files kept getting thrashed over there all the time. I couldn't keep up with it every time.

I just looked at your raw preferences file, and it is empty except for one line. So the solution is if you edit your profile, you can get all your preferences back. When did you notice the banners missing?

After you moved them to the bottom then moved them back to the top again. Then shortly after that I guess they went off totally.

Oh okay. That means it was when we were on the other server. That's good because we haven't lost any data over here that I know of. Try editing your profile. There is a place where you can select whether you want the banners to show or not, among other things.

K they are back...which is weird because I never turned that function off. Sidenote: is there a reason why when you edit your profile the password changes to like a hundred characters long?

No I know you probably didn't change it. Like I was saying, your file got erased during a data loss episode at Nexpoint hosting's server. So you lost your profile data that was saved in that file. The password length is due to a new password encryption formula developed by Carter for WebAPP version 0.9.9.2.1 . We will be having 0.9.9.2.3 soon. I'm trying to get the ambition to finish it and the focus for long enough to follow through all the way until it is done and released. It's not coming easy. The last umpteen versions I put together were practically too much for me all in all. But hopefully I will finish it anyways. It's actually done - just needs compiling and notes is all.
