Frappr stands for Friend Mapper.
I havn't found out much yet...
Seems like fun.
I enabled "custom pins", with labels "friends, readers, editors". There are five possible. Any proposal for the remaining two (colors of those two are red and blue, they are standard for gals and guys, but may have any label)
I also enabled the built in forum.
It is also possible to have photos.

No, I havn't found out how to set my position correctly. Seems that I found a little bug, but can't remember what I did.
Please add yourself to the map, signup needs name and email. Also you should set the URL in the profile. Example:
http://www.frappr.com/nlgw
Position seems to work ok for US: you just enter the ZIP code.
Also there's already http://www.frappr.com/opengrid where you want to add yourself as member

Here is what I think happens:
- when you add yourself to a map your position is copied into the map
- when you later change your position it is _ NOT _ updated on the maps
- I had to remove myself from the map and add myself again.
Gilles you may want to change your name to the American transcription with Ae instead of the small umlaut a, it works in some displays but fails in other displays.

I recommend that you do this:
Go to frappr
Click on "MyFrappr"
Click on "(Edit My Basic Profile)"
(Maybe this shortcut works: http://www.frappr.com/?a=profile&type=basic )
Now, you'll see, below "My Name and Photo -- My Frappr Name " this: "My Frappr Web URL: "
Choose some keyword you like. When I looked "geo" was taken, "geofan" was free. What you get is something like that: http://www.frappr.com/pppp
AND you can add a forum with just a click. Best of that ... http://www.frappr.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=2491099
"a link is a link is a link". Well, not really. But still...
Oh, and you can report your frappr URL here, so that the world finds you...
