but the rules for the win of the award where are?
I'm so happy to be reminded about this. We need to make some instructions about the contest. The awards mod for WebAPP was nice as I remember seeing it a long time ago. I think we could make it work here.
We are updating WebAPP to a new version now. When it is finished, we could add the WebAward Mod here and try it out.
That would be fun!

On a side note, I decided to enter Open Grid in what I consider one of the better awards contest and am taking the liberty to post the results plus some other info about the particular award site we went to and the excerpt of the email notification about winning.
Congratulations! Your website - Open Grid Project - http://www.opengrid.org/ - has met my criteria and has won a Crystal Award. The Open Grid Project is quick to load, user-friendly, and easy to navigate, with an uncluttered design which makes it a real pleasure to view. I especially like the division of Directory entries into Commercial and Non-commercial sections; an idea which, I feel, indicates a directory designed for the benefit of the user rather than that of the site owner! I understand that this site was undergoing a re-design during my evaluation period, and have attempted to double-check all points of non-agreement with my criteria before finalising my evaluation. I hope I have succeeded in producing a fair and accurate evaluation.
I mentioned on our forums that SiteLibrary is looking at developing an awards program and that while some see awards as passe, even the big boys don't shun them http://dmoz.org/awards/

Congratulations Nick. Nice writeup they gave you over at that awards site.
I've always thought awards were pretty neat. Only thing that bothers me about them is that so many awards sites let their site design and content go completely downhill. Oftentimes they don't stick around that long either. But there are still some nice ones.
It's a good way to get incoming traffic to their site.

Thanks Jos
I kind of like the nostalgic flavored sites and no doubt content rules over flash. While templates are available to make even those who have little design experience and are in a hurry to "look good" a notepad full of content may be of more benefit to end users.

I'm with you on that Nick. I always like a site that is obviously hand-designed. Templates are nice, but I'd hate to think of somebody else having the exact same site design. If you look at the source code for this community site, you will see "Generator" .. "Perl, text editor, and WebAPP"
This site was made with WebAPP Web Automated Perl Portal systemv0.9.9.9 RC4 , a web portal system written in Perl.
