Moving Sites - Starting Point Posted on 06/25/05 at 01:30:58 GMT |
I fiddled with the Move Sites feature to make it start where the site was in the first place rather than from the Root folder, figuring that more often than not, the site moves into a subcategory of where it is, or maybe to a newly requested subcategory, or somewhere around where it was, theoretically. Otherwise the breadcrumb path holds links all the way back up to the root. Haven't used it this way yet, so let me know if you find anything funny happening when moving sites.

Yay, I'm glad you like it too. I figured it might save us some time. Since I'm the most behind on submissions backlog, hopefully it will save me a lot of time especially.

I noticed when you moves sites that are deep into the layout it doesn't work.

I think it's fixed once more, and hopefully never again will I work on an old copy and upload it over the current copy without having a backup. Let me know if you find anything about it that doesn't work. How deep was the category that you had a problem with? If you run across it again, let me know. I can't see any that are deeper than 16 levels. I can see in the code where it would have a problem with any number higher than 16 though. I think that's our limit.

Well that's no good. For now it's alright but in the furture there may be more than 16 levels especially in Regional. I ran across the non-working level in Regional somewhere. If I come across anymore non-working sections I'll give you a heads up here.

I'm not sure if we can have more than 16 levels or not. All I know is I saw 16 in the code when it searches through the levels to get the category names and statistics.
