Either way they have access to your email (you can email a member from their profile). If it links to an email (which is bad because then the spiders will get ahold of them all) or a profile, it needs to clearly state the editor will not respond to inquiries about specific submissions. Perhaps somewhere we need to clearly state they will receive an email when their site is proccessed either way, either a rejection or approval. Either way we don't respond to emails asking what's happening to the site. Most directories don't email you either way but this one does. So if they haven't heard either way then wait some more.

But the profile doesn't give out the email address, it's an anon email, and you have to join the community to email someone through the system. Submittors have had no way of knowing who here processed their submission, but I suppose if we had editor names on the categories, they would have a better idea of who it was. That was something I hadn't considered. I do often answer the emails I get asking about a submission. Often people have been willing to correct whatever problem and resubmit, surprisingly enough. It will be awhile anyways before I would be able to program this editor name in to the category. So by then maybe we will have worked out what we want with it. I'll check back before I make the change.

Most directories don't email you either way but this one does. Cool! But isn't that pretty labor intensive? Or is it automated? That's the complaint I've heard about submitting to many directories - no way of knowing if one's submittal is accepted. So when word gets around that sitelibrary acknowledges acceptances/rejections, that should be a pretty popular feature So far I like your directory a lot!

Yes, it's automated.

Thanks Writergrrrl! Yes the emailing is automatic. It all goes to the directory email box, which goes to me. If it's a rejection note, a copy goes to that Group Norbert made for records of rejection reasons. So no effort on our parts except for me needing to clean out my email box before my hard drive fills up I get one for every new submission too.

It must be noted that even though it is automated we do have the ability to customize it to reflect the actual reason it was rejected. We have a generic one (which I personally used whenever there was so much wrong with the site I didn't even know where to start), one for missing contact, one for bad submission qualities (wrong title, bad description, etc), one for duplicate content, etc. Then we can further customize by hand editing the above messages as well. But it's automated other than that. Oh and the admin also have the option of decling with no email sent (I only ever uses that one as a last resort). Sidenote: I love your little icon writergrrrl

I love your little icon writergrrrl Yep, it sort of reflected my feelings at the moment (cranky Maxine-like character) One day I'll post a photo of my banty chickens - they're a riot, look like their feathers got put on backwards I do often answer the emails I get asking about a submission. Often people have been willing to correct whatever problem and resubmit Most of the emails I get from other directories are simply people asking for the status of their submissions. So I will appreciate the directory's accept/reject feature
