Good point. And I think you're right too - I don't remember seeing any categories on Linux or Perl topics. We need some.
By the way Andy, I remember you mentioning that it would be a good idea if editors could apply for subcategories. We have that option now. Just finished it the other day.
It might not be completely finished to its fullest and most polish stage, but let's just say it's in the Alpha stage of testing. They work though. It's going to be a really nice feature to have.

I was talking about subcategories in the link section of web-app. Doesn't sound like we were talking about the same thing. That happens.

Ahh you're so true.
Subcategories in WebAPP links has been talked about many times, but no one has managed to pull it off yet. One person made a simulation of it but it wasn't actually subcategories in links. For any more than a basic set of personal links, I think it's best to use some type of directory engine rather than the built in links system for the portal.

Maybe it could be done the same way that that's used in the one by Gossamer Threads. If you want to add a subcategory, you add a slash after the main category. Sure, it's more complex than that, but I leave that to the programmers... muhahahahhaha http://www.gossamer-threads.com/scripts/links/demo.htm
